Free credit report website?

Is there a website were I can see my credit score for free? (Without any commitments or strings attached)

Free credit report website?

Yes, by law you are entitled to one report per year. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and get it there. They get report from all 3 credit bureaus.

Free credit report website?

No but equifax is free but you have to cancel free 1 month in 30 days or THEN they charge you

Free credit report website?

I hope so, I want to go to a site like that too. I am giving an answer to keep looking back to see what other people have to say :-)

Free credit report website?

Not that I%26#039;ve found! Be careful to watch for scams. On the yahoo home page theres somethign on the bottom about a free credit score/report thing, and I did it and got charged 12 dollars to my bank account every month until I found out what it was. Be careful! I honestly wouldn%26#039;t trust anything that talks about a free credit report.

Free credit report website?

NO such thing, the free ones always have gimmicks or scams.

Free credit report website?

annualcreditreport.com will give you a free credit report, but will not tell you your actual score. You can see everything that is on your credit report though, and it does not charge any fee, or require a credit card number. It just asks some question to verify your identity. Most of the other credit report sites ask for a fee or card number.

Free credit report website?

you are entitled by law to get one free credit report annually through the three large credit bureaus. equifax, experian, and transunion. any one of these three companies should offer it.

Free credit report website?

Federal law provides for you to have access to your credit report at least once a year. The web site is http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/cr... which is the web site for the Federal Trade Commission. Follow the instructions. Once you view your credit report print copy and keep. Examine for any unusual items if have any contract the credit rating agency.

%26quot;How Can I Get An Annual Free Credit Report?

By Dean Iggo

Obtaining an annual free credit report can keep you on top of your credit and allows you to check if there are any errors on your credit report. By receiving a credit report annually you can keep one step ahead in making sure there are no problems with your credit score.

There are three big firms that are nationally operated which you can receive an annual free credit report The 閳ユ競ig three閳?are: Equifax, TRW, and Trans Union Corporation. You can contact any of these credit bureaus to receive an annual free credit report. You can also check your local agencies as well but they generally charge a fee for this service.

The free credit reports will not automatically be sent out to you as the consumers need to request getting a report one of the following ways. You can go to www.annualcreditreport.com and obtain a credit report. This is the only authorized source for credit reports where customers can access their information online. This service is free of charge.

You can also call 877-322-8228 to receive a free credit report. The last thing you can do is fill out completely the form on the back of the Annual Credit Report Request brochure and then mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA, 30348-5281. Make sure that you go through the centralized agency as by obtaining your report from other agencies you will not receive an annual free credit report but you will be charged for their credit services.

It does not take much time or effort to receive an annual free credit report. It is an important document as it could have ramifications to your employment, loan applications, and benefits. Considering the service is free there is no reason not to check up on your credit score to see if it can be improved or there are errors which need to be addressed. Checking on your credit should be an annual ritual as it is more important to know the status of your credit that the score that it holds. %26quot;

My credit was checked, I was told that I didn't have a credit score but my credit report showed

It showed my car payments and a loan with my credit union, all paid on time. Does it make sense? I was told that I needed to get a credit card to establish credit but when I tried to get an gas card, their reply was that I didn%26#039;t have a credit score and I was denied. What can I do about this? Is there a credit card company that I can apply for with NO credit? Is there someone I can contact to discuss my credit situation? Please help.

My credit was checked, I was told that I didn%26#039;t have a credit score but my credit report showed I had credit.

Okay this can happen. Im trying to do a mortgage with a lady right now that has no credit score. I have to go to the agencies and try and get them to report.

Let me give you a few scenarios as to why your gas card company said there was no score and well as the other companies. There are 3 credit reporting agencies. Trans Union, Equifax, Experian.

1. Your credit union that you have your loan with reports only to Trans Union, not all 3. So when the Gas Company checked maybe they checked experian. Nothing will be there.

2. Your car loan was a co-signer. They gave it to you based on your co-signers credit. They may be reporting on the co-signers credit.

3. Your loans are less 6-12 months old. They show but the credit bureaus dont feel there is enough time to give you a score to show your credit worthiness.

Ways to fix these issues.

1. If they are only reporting to 1 bureau contact the other bureaus (links below) and get them to report it.

2. If they are only reporting on the co-signer get the bank to report on yours as well. If they wont get all your cancelled receipts and send them to the 3 credit bureaus to have them added.

3. Cant do anything about 3 but have more time that you have paid.

To answer your other question, yes CC companies like Capital One etc will allow you to get a secured CC. You give them 500 dollars in your savings account. They give you 500 dollars in a credit line. Its not a pre-paid credit card. If you charge 100 dollars, they will send you a bill for 20 bucks a month. If you dont pay it they wont take it out of the 500 dollars. They will charge you a late fee and hit you with a 30 days late on your credit report.

I would suggest getting 2 or 3 of these credit cards. It wont show on your credit report that they are secured. You can get them as low as 200 dollars. Now this is very important. If you have 2 of them at 200 dollars each. Thats 400 in credit. Never keep your monthly balance over 30% of what is availiable. So you give them 400 you have 120 bucks to use. 60 on each. The reason why is because that will change your score massively.

Your score will go up or down depending on this. If you have 70% of your availiable credit, it shows you are responsible and are budgeting. If you have 2% or 0% of your availiable credit thats not good. Your score will plummet. I was doing a loan for a friend, she had a 10,000 CC. She owed 200 dollars on it. Her fico score was 710. Her friend needed a loan so she took it out on her credit card. Her Fico dropped to 580.

Make sure you keep a running balance even if its 30 bucks so they will report every month.

Good Luck

My credit was checked, I was told that I didn%26#039;t have a credit score but my credit report showed I had credit.

you dont start a zero.

and if you have a car loan, and you pay it each month, then you dont have a poor credit score either.

just check with chase for a credit card, they have many different cards suitable for different levels of credit.

*** better yet, if you have cash upfront like $300.00, go to your credit union and get a secured credit card. that shows up on your credit report, and just make sure if you use it, pay it off in full the next month

My credit was checked, I was told that I didn%26#039;t have a credit score but my credit report showed I had credit.

The best thing you can do is apply for a credit card through your bank. They understand you have no credit but hopefully you%26#039;ve had accounts with them for a while.

Otherwise, go to Macy%26#039;s an open a credit account. They%26#039;re famous for letting anyone get credit. You may start out with only $100 limit, but you have to start somewhere. Every 6 months you can request an increase. And once you have that card, you can get other cards and start establishing credit.

My credit was checked, I was told that I didn%26#039;t have a credit score but my credit report showed I had credit.

It sounds like the credit check showed an %26quot;invalid%26quot; score. That can happen if you have no credit, or if what you had in the past hasn%26#039;t reported in the last 6 months. Did you finish paying off the loans, then not use anything? If so, you%26#039;re starting over again. You can get some credit cards with no credit history, but expect to pay a deposit( secured card) or an annual fee.

You can call the company who denied you. They are legally obligated to provide you a written response within 30 days of receipt of your application. The decline letter would be your response. Check there for the phone #, they may or may not have published it. If it%26#039;s not there call the customer service number and ask to be transferred or given the # to the credit department concerning a decline. When you get through, make sure your social security # and date of birth were correct on the application. If both were wrong, they may not have been able to get a file.

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

I%26#039;m a college student, I dont have any credit cards, but I do have a debit/credit card. Do those help/hurt your credit rating?

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

Debit cards don%26#039;t go on your credit report. Only credit cards that are solely credit cards. You should open one up just to establish some credit. It%26#039;ll be easier for you to get credit for things later in life. Just don%26#039;t run up a balance and get yourself in trouble.

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

Yes.

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

no, only credit cards go on your credit report..

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

Debit/Credit cards issued through your bank do not go on your credit. However, if you overdraft your bank account and do not pay it, that will go on your credit. If you are looking to build credit, get a small balance card and always keep it below 50% of your allowable limit.

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

yes

Do debit/credit cards go on your credit report?

Of course not.. I really can%26#039;t believe some people answered yes. The only accounts that go on your credit report are accounts that gave you credit. Your debit card did not extend you any credit, they%26#039;re simply letting you access the money you have in the bank.

Repairing Credit Report?

Is it true that if you make payment or settle with a creditor right before it %26#039;s 7 yr release date.., that you%26#039;re doing your report more harm than Good. I think its call REDATING%26#039; and it makes the clock start ticking all over.

Repairing Credit Report?

They go off the date of last activity, so some creditors or collection agencies may interpret that to mean last PAYMENT, which would be the recent one and start the 7 year clock over again.

To protect yourself, get in writing BEFORE you pay that they will DELETE the account from the 3 credit bureaus. (If they just want to mark your account PAID COLLECTION or PAID PROFIT %26amp; LOSS, this will still show up on your credit and probably won%26#039;t help you).

Repairing Credit Report?

It%26#039;s always good to pay off your debts (If the creditor really wants to make your life miserable, they can actually %26quot;resubmit%26quot; the debt for another 7 years on your credit report) However, you are correct that if you pay off a debt, it stays as a %26quot;paid%26quot; collection on your credit report until seven years after you%26#039;ve paid it and that can look bad. However, you can talk with a collection agency and have them, when you pay off the debt, take it off your credit report. Just make sure you get the promise in writing.

yes definitely. FIX everything you have on your report, dispute everything, because if they dont reply to your dispute, it will erase from your report - you can increase your score by a hundred easily if you remove these blemishes off your report

Bad Credit Report and Fraud how to stop it.?

Ok let me start by saying i am here to get help not scolded. I am helping out my sister (and no it wasnt her who did it). Ok, My sisters identity was stolen (well borrowed) by someone she knows....and that ran up some things under her name. What i would really like to know is how she can stop it from happening again. The person paid her back and everything is ok now. But she is worried that it will happen again. She has talked to the cops and she doesnt want to get the person in trouble but she does want to make sure it does not happen again. What can she do? I know there is the 90 day watch she can do. But we also heard of locking her social security number or changing it. Can that happen? And most of all can it happen without filing a report.

Bad Credit Report and Fraud how to stop it.?

She won%26#039;t be able to just change her social security number. But she can contact the three credit bureaus and ask that a freeze be put on her account to be sure nobody opens any accounts in her name.

Bad Credit Report and Fraud how to stop it.?

she needs to put all 3 credit reporting agencies on fraud notice..

Bad Credit Report and Fraud how to stop it.?

All she has to do is contact the three credit bureaus and put a freeze on her credit.

This will prevent anyone from opening new accounts without her being contacted by the bureaus first.

All it takes to reverse this is a simply phone call to the credit bureaus.

Bad Credit Report and Fraud how to stop it.?

Call Trans Union Fraud Dept @ 1-800-680-7289. They in turn will notify the other 2 Bureaus for you at no cost.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Is it true that your credit is affected not only by the credit cards with balances but also those without balances??

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

This is an evaluation after reading all the answers you were given.

First off *** do not close any of your credit card accounts. You need that history.***

All opened credit cards affect your credit score ! I agree with some answers that having a zero balance shows inactivity. So using them and paying them all off at the end of the month will not necessarily help your credit score.

What I suggest is putting a very very small balance on that card and make the minimum payments. Don%26#039;t even use 30% of the card. This will help you continue to earn a good credit score. Having a well round of credit card accounts with low balance that are paid on time will help you improve your credit score the most.

Your score will not be affected negatively by too much credit limit. The only way your score will decrease by too much credit limit is if you have A LOT of cards. (Like in the 20%26#039;s) The scoring system does not score you on your take home pay vs your credit limit. This is something a creditor might judge you own. (Remember when you applying for an account each creditor has their own criteria they are looking for.)

You will need a couple of MAJOR credit cards, and a few small revolving accounts. Please limit the department store accounts.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Yes! Click%26gt;%26gt; https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i... This central site ( Central meaning 3 Equifax, Experian and TransUnion).allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report.

This site%26#039;s security protocols are designed to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access or alteration. Measures include physical and

technological security and encryption of certain information.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Yes, they impact both your credit score and your credit report. Your credit report lists all your open accounts, and your credit score can go up or down depending on different factors but applying for a new card and/or closing an account certainly can impact your score.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

The credit report will show any credit card accounts that are open. However, I am pretty sure that have a zero balance on a credit card can only help your credit report.

No one should have a lot of credit card debt; that hurts the credit report.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

If youve never used the credit card its like not even having it . If you use it periodically for small things then pay it at the end of the month , thats how you get good credit !

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Yep.....it shows as a possible liability. It affects your income to debt ratio.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Sometimes, It depends on the buissness... Sometimes it says if you dont use it its like not being able to use what is in front of you. haha, or something like that. But it sounds more Legal...

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Any credit card you have that is open, whether you have a balance on it or not, shows as an %26quot;open line of credit%26quot; which can either help or hurt your cause. You can be looked at as Overextended if you have too many open lines of credit based on your income.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Ok, everyone%26#039;s posted their answer on here, so now I%26#039;m going to post mine. Yes, credit cards w/o balances can affect your credit report, especially if you%26#039;re not using the account. If you%26#039;re not using it, the account doesn%26#039;t report any activity. The credit scoring system is designed to where it should be consistently used, but not overused. Anywhere up to 30% of your available credit is allowable. While it%26#039;s ideal to have a 0 balance, sometimes the activity from month to month on the account may or may not reflect on your report.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

Your credit score is made up 35% payment history, 35% debt to income ratio and account longevity, and 30% for alias%26#039; previous addresses, and a number of other small things.

While a couple of open accounts with no balance helps you, the potential liability of you running wild and being able to max them out and over extend yourself does play a part in the debt to income ratio. Be sure to keep your oldest account open. If the interest rate is high, ask them to lower it because you have paid and have a 0 balance. If they won%26#039;t, tell them to close the account. They will quickly back up and drop the rates.

If you have several accounts open, close a couple of them. As a general rule you want to carry a balance on one card and keep one or two others paid off. Even if it%26#039;s groceries on week on a card and you pay it off the next day.

I have found one way to help re-establish is to use a credit card like a debit card and pay it online daily or weekly if your servicer allows multiple monthly payments. It keeps the account cycling and reporting positive.

Do credit cards without balances affect your credit report?

yes, It shows that you have credit available to you and it is a good thing is helps your score

Running Credit Report?

capital One Bank ran my credit 6 times in one month and 12 times in one year. This has ruined my FICO score. Can anything be done about this?

Running Credit Report?

Look at the next junk mailer from any credit card company - you%26#039;ll find the OPT OUT phone number. Call it from your home phone and you will be removed from the pre approved list that generates credit inquiries.

It%26#039;ll take a couple of months to change but by year%26#039;s end you should find a significant drop in junk mail and credit inquirie.

Running Credit Report?

cancel your credit cards

Running Credit Report?

you should determine why they ran your credit in the first place. were you showing some late payments or delinquencies? if not, you should get a hold of the credit bureau and dispute the entries that you feel were wrong.

Running Credit Report?

Did you request them to run the report? There are different kind of inquires as far as I know, one is when they run the report on your request and one is when these companies keep checking your report through consumer reports etc. The 2nd one does not impact your FICO score.

Running Credit Report?

Some inquiries don%26#039;t count against your score. These are usually the ones you don%26#039;t ask for. You can contact the credit bureaus and put a freeze on it so that no one can check your credit without your permission. You can also opt out of allowing firms that may want to make you an offer from being able to check your credit (ie. you didn%26#039;t ask for a credit card, they are fishing for good prospects)

Check with the credit bureau as unsolicited inquiries usually don%26#039;t impact fico so maybe there%26#039;s another problem.

Lastly you may be able to file a dispute letter on your record. It doesnt%26#039; change the score but at least any lender looking will see your explanation.

Running Credit Report?

1) assuming that they are running the report as a result for your request for credit, then stop asking (i.e. don%26#039;t apply for new lines of credit, credit cards, personal loans)

2) if they are doing it on their own, then it%26#039;s not affecting your score.

3) either way, if the same company checks your score multiple times in the same month, it%26#039;s only a %26quot;one time%26quot; hit to your credit score. If i were you, i%26#039;d be concerned that something else is negatively effecting your credit score. %26quot;checks%26quot; by creditors are much less detrimental than delinquencies or collections.

Does bad credit disappear from My credit report after 7 years, even though I still owe money? (Canad

I have a credit card and I have not made payment on it since 2001, will the bad credit rating disappear even though I still owe the money?

Does bad credit disappear from My credit report after 7 years, even though I still owe money? (Canada)?

It depends on the creditors and own much is out standing.

Some will let it go and give up.... others will hurt your credit history until you pay them.

Does bad credit disappear from My credit report after 7 years, even though I still owe money? (Canada)?

No ..You didn%26#039;t pay it all!

Does bad credit disappear from My credit report after 7 years, even though I still owe money? (Canada)?

7.5 years

Does bad credit disappear from My credit report after 7 years, even though I still owe money? (Canada)?

No. If you owe money it stays there. You will still have to settled your debt to have it removed eventually

Just got my CREDIT REPORT and have nothing on it, is this good or bad?

There is only my electoral role information and that%26#039;s is. Is there a good thing that I just have this? If not what steps can I take to improve it?

PS. I have never had a credit card and would like to keep it this way. I am good with savings and have a savings account that I contribute generously to every month.

Just got my CREDIT REPORT and have nothing on it, is this good or bad?

the only thing worse than no credit is bad credit. So down the road when you do need credit (say a mortgage or car loan) you have nothing to show you are a good candidate (well for a house there are other factors but a lending agency looks hard at your credit aswell)

Simply get a student (if you are a student) or bank visa with a low limit, say $500. and make small purchases that you know you are able to pay in full before the billing period and you will build a strong credit report over time, giving you a credit score for when it is really needed.

Just got my CREDIT REPORT and have nothing on it, is this good or bad?

No credit is more hurtful than even bad credit. The point of a lender viewing your credit history is to determine how risky an investment in you is. So having no credit the lender will not be able to make a decision. Even having bad credit the lender can at the very least determine that you%26#039;re higher risk and adjust your rate/terms appropriately.

Unfortunately the BEST way to start to build your credit up is to open revolving credit accounts... credit cards. Even if you don%26#039;t desire to have a credit card it is still possible to have one without any negative effects. Find a credit card that offers incentives (Cashback or free air miles) and use it for purchases throughout the month, your instinct will be to pay the entire balance off - but you can build your credit more rapidly by maintaining a balance (Keep it small!). That doesn%26#039;t mean you won%26#039;t help build your credit by paying the entire balance each month either though (Just not as effectively).

A good website to help find a credit card that is best for you is: http://www.bankrate.com/brm/rate/cc_home...

Hope this helps! Goodluck!

Just got my CREDIT REPORT and have nothing on it, is this good or bad?

Not having a credit history is not necessarily a bad thing. It will only become a problem if you intend on borrowing money. Most people borrow money for cars, houses, etc. But if you won%26#039;t be doing this then you don%26#039;t have a problem.

If you WILL need to borrow money in the future (and most do for at least a home) then you will need to establish some sort of credit history. The good news, however, if that you DON%26#039;T have to use debt to get there. Check out a company called PRBC ( http://www.prbc.com ). They are America%26#039;s alternate credit bureau. What is so great about them is that you can build a solid credit history by using non-traditional bills. Below is a list of some of the types of bills you can use to build a credit history:

* Rent

* Cable

* Phone

* Daycare

* Insurance

* Electric

* Natural Gas

* Cell Phone

Just got my CREDIT REPORT and have nothing on it, is this good or bad?

No credit is a good thing.

You don%26#039;t need a credit score to borrow money for a home. Find a bank that does manual underwriting. It%26#039;s not a sub prime loan. it%26#039;s how home loans were givin%26#039; before all the fico score worship. You can get the lowest interest rates out there.

Obsessing with the I love debt score will get you nothing but debt. You have to borrow money and make payments on time to get a high score so that you can go out and borrow more money. It makes no sense financially.

If you pay as you go.

If you live on less money than you make.

You will have money and will not have to obsess with the I love debt score.

Just got my CREDIT REPORT and have nothing on it, is this good or bad?

You may try to google it,here has some direct resource that might be helpful.http://creditreport.online-helper.info/a...

GOOD FOR YOU!!

YOU have not succumb to the sharks. Build wealth and stay the hell away from the sharks.

NORMAL is BROKE AND IN DEBT. tons of people will say you have to have credit. Believe me if you have CASH , it says a lot more then if you have plastic.

Most reputable mortgage lenders do manual underwriting looking at Income against household expenses.

It%26#039;s best to not buy a car on credit either. Buy used and pay cash, save money you%26#039;d pay on payments in a fund for 1 year or 2 and trade up.

I wish truly wish I%26#039;d never let the sharks feed on me.

Don%26#039;t be normal. You have a true freedom I will have in a couple of year.

Thanks. For me it is important to know it can be done.

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

I gave them my information, but my year of birth is that of my sister%26#039;s as well as one of her late payments! I should have great credit and hers is ok credit, but somehow our personal infor is intertwined! What should I do? I knw she hasn%26#039;t stolen my credit cards or anything like that. So you think maybe it%26#039;s just a mistake by the website?

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

It depends. Did you go to the actual credit reporting website, like were you transferred to the Experian or Transunion sites? And even if you weren%26#039;t, I would still worry.

Go the the gov site that lets you get all 3 reports for free. I think its www.annualcreditreport.com Get all three reports and compare them. If they have wrong information, you need to contact each of the individual companies and get the info corrected. Its not all that hard to do.

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

No. It sounds like it%26#039;s a mistake by the credit bureau.

You need to contact them either in writing or online and tell them this- explain in as much detail as possible. They can fix it (and will) but it%26#039;s on you to tell them.

You absolutely must do this- you do not want your credit ruined by having it mixed up with someone else%26#039;s information!!

Just go on to the website and look for %26quot;dispute information%26quot; and look there- the exact place differs from site to site.

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

You need to contact the credit bureau and request that they fix it. there should be a phone # on your credit report (even if you got it online) that you can contact them if you have any more questions.

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

no probably not a mistake of the website but a mistake of the creditors...you have to call the credit people...for example...if it was put into collections you need to contact the collection agency and the original place that you or her started making payments to and straighten everything out....they wont straighten it out for you...you have to be the one to contact them and bring it to their attention....i have been through that before...its a lot of work but its definately worth it....i would write to the credit people you got your credit report from (for example Trans Union is a credit bureau) you would have to write to them or contact them in some type of way and let them know whats going on....well i wish you the best....good luck

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

Step 1 - go to annualcreditreport.com and request your other reports. You can do this for free once a year.

Step 2 - check each one carefully for errors.

Step 3 - wherever you find errors, contact the credit reporting agency (Experian, Transunion, Equifax) and find out what THEIR procedure is for disputing an item. They will probably tell you to contact the alleged lender (and can give you the needed contact info) and they will also probably have you fill out their own dispute form (which sort of puts a hold on things until you can get it straightened out).

Step 4 - follow their instructions. Get EVERYTHING in writing (this leaves a paper trail if things get messy). All correspondence should be sent return receipt requested, so you can a). prove they got it and b). prove WHEN they got it.

This is not the easiest thing in the world to do, but you absolutely CAN do it yourself (DO NOT pay someone else to %26#039;clean-up%26#039; your credit). You just have to be diligent and follow-up on everything yourself.

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

I cant answer for every case but when i have used freecreditreport.com it was not accurate. my credit score was much better on that report than what showed up when a finance company ran it.

PLease help me!! Are credit report wesites like freecreditreport.com accurate?

Those companies offering credit scores do not use the FICO Scores, so they won%26#039;t be totally accurate. If you want the real score, go to the source.

http://www.myfico.com

But that%26#039;s not the question she%26#039;s asking...

Yes, I%26#039;ll bet your report is accurate, and I can almost guarantee the credit bureau messed up. If they don%26#039;t have the creditor%26#039;s SS# those negative reports can go anywhere!

Someone with my name but in a differant city defaulted, and that report got on my credit record. I thought it was fixed, but a year later I discovered Equifax was still reporting it! Another 2 months of putting up with there excuses was enough for me, so I filed a small claims suit. Won a settlement with them.

So make them fix it!

Let see who has the best number when you are honest!!! Are you having a bad or a great credit number?

Cleaning up my credit report?

I have a lot of old debt on my report. Plus a few things that were added about a year ago. A few things are going to fall off this summer. I went through 2 layoffs and a car repossession ( the car was a lemon that wouldnt even drive anymore). I have 2 civil judgements ( One is the car repo) reported as well. Anyone have any word of advice? Should I start paying off the newer debts or does it even matter at this point? Or should I send letters to the creditors asking them to remove negative remarks in exchange for a full payment? My score is very very low. Like under 400 low. I would like to be able to buy a house in 2 years and a new car sooner than that. Any advice would help

Cleaning up my credit report?

Well, it sounds like you%26#039;re trying to get things in order. To be honest, you%26#039;ve actually provided answers in your own question. But, I%26#039;ll add some extra strategies that you can do, but first you may want to know how your score%26#039;s broken down:

35% Payment History- This makes up the most of your score. This determines your payment habits

30% Total debt owed- This is the 2nd largest component of your score. This determines how much you%26#039;ve borrowed altogether

15% Length of credit history- This determines how long that you%26#039;ve been borrowing

10% Types of credit- This determines what purpose you%26#039;ve borrowed for. There are 2 main types of credit, revolving and installment. Credit cards are installment and mortgages, car, signature, student loans are installment loans.

10% Inquiries and new credit- This determines whether you%26#039;ve applied for new credit and new accounts that%26#039;s been opened it the past 6 months.

Now that you know that, the best way to bring up your score is to handle what%26#039;s hurting it the most: the late payments. My suggestion would be to pay off the most recent and smallest balance delinquencies first. Go ahead and play the waiting game that with the ones that will fall off this summer. The older ones, like you said you could negotiate for a %26quot;payment for deletion%26quot; off your report. If you%26#039;re able to get them to agree to this, get them to send you something in writing on their company letterhead before sending them a dime. Also, don%26#039;t use your checking account information. Send cashiers%26#039; checks or money orders. Make sure that you send everything certified mail. That way, you have a paper trail that can support you in the event they want to try to sheist you. As for the judgements, that may take a little more work. Those are going to be on your credit for a while, but the main thing right now would be to clear those delinquencies.

Another thing you can do if you%26#039;re paying on time and you want to show it is check this website out. It%26#039;s a New credit bureau that reports not only regular monthly payments like credit cards, car loans, that show on your report, but also rent utilities, cell phone, day care, and other monthly bills that DON%26#039;T show on your credit reports.

http://prbc.com/default.php?

This will help you a LOT. If you%26#039;re needing to build your credit, this is the perfect route to get you on the way to doing that. Check out this website thoroughly.

Cleaning up my credit report?

If you can afford to pay them off - I would definetly try negoiating with the creditors to have the info removed. I%26#039;ve heard of people doing this, but I%26#039;ve never actually heard if it worked or not, but the most they can say is no.

In the mean time, keep paying your bills on time. Get the judgements paid off - even if they don%26#039;t agree to remove them. Judgements can be refiled and it%26#039;ll be like they%26#039;ll never come off. / Keep credit balances below 30% or use cash / Don%26#039;t apply for too much credit - inquires can hurt your score and chances for getting credit when you need it. / More than likely, most of this is just going to take time. Try to be patient.

Cleaning up my credit report?

Go to trans union and pull your credit report for dispute. You make sure that everything is on there is accurate first. There is a space on there that allows you to make remarks like job layoffs, active duty etc. Then you need to start making payments to the people you owe. You can make settlements meaning settling for a specified amount that is lower than what you actually owe. Always save your receipts to show proof that you did pay.

Never avoid the bill collectors calls talk to them even if you have to pay the min. amount.

When you do a dispute by law the have about 30 days to respond if the companies don%26#039;t respond by law they have to take it off your credit report.

Don%26#039;t pull your credit score too much because that can have negative effect on your score.. You don%26#039;t have to pay your medical bills right away let that be your last thing because Mortgage companies see medical bills and student loans as an allowable debt.

Pay off the smaller bills first.... **No more late payments** From now on you need to budget your money and pay on time, if you cannot pay on time you need to call ahead and make payment arrangements.

If you have credit cards do not close the accounts closing the accounts will do more damage to your credit score.

Good luck!

Cleaning up my credit report?

First validate the debts you want to pay off with the credit reporting agencies (CRA%26#039;s).

If the credit bureau comes back as validating the debt send your next letter to the CRA%26#039;s asking for the company name and phone number that they validated the debt from. Many times they will not be able to provide that information because it is only a computerized search of public records instead of calling the courthouse where the actual judgments exists. thus they will have to delete from your credit report.

Cleaning up my credit report?

yes paying off your debt now will make your credit look good in the long run.. and keep it that way.

buys things in cash for now til u get back on your feet

Cleaning up my credit report?

Whew! Sounds like you%26#039;ve been through a lot. If you have the money to pay off the debts, do it. Make your civil judgments your first priority. No mortgage lender will lend you money with those open on your report.

Negotiate for less than you owe...see if the collectors will work with you. Every time you pay something off, make sure you get something in writing proving that the debt is settled. Send a copy of that to credit bureaus as you go along.

Just know that even if you pay the old debt, it still has to remain on your report for 7 years. There is no %26quot;remove in exchange for payment%26quot;.

Also be advised that just because something has run its course and is no longer on your report after 7 years, the creditor still has the legal right to try and collect their money. Those things don%26#039;t just disappear. Even though they are old, they still need to be addressed too.

Good luck!

Equifax has a credit score estimator. You can get your score and see what it will be in two years, six months, or one month. Pretty nifty tool and is fun to play around with.

Cleaning up my credit report?

You sound like a good candidate for Financial Peace. See the website. It%26#039;s not a gimmick or debt consolidation. It%26#039;s sound financial advice on how to change your attitude and behavior toward debt.

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

had changed from a 546 to 608 I paid off 2 credit cards and got a new credit card. Is that what helped it. Both?? Please let me know how to continue to bring up the score. I am quite happy. I would like to bring up to 640 how can I do that??

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

Before I go any further, I%26#039;m going to break down what makes up your score:

a.Payment history-35%

b.Total debt owed vs. avaiable credit-30%

c. Length of time establishing credit-15%

d. Types of credit established-10%

e. Inquiries and New accounts-10%

Ok, by you paying off your 2 credit cards, that immediately affected factor (b). Were those 2 cards maxed out by chance? If so, that%26#039;s the reason for the dramatic increase in your score. Also, the new card will help, but a little later on down the line at least a year or so later until the account establishes payment history. My suggestion would be although you%26#039;ve paid those cards off, I would still use them lightly. And what I mean by that is that: treat those cards as well as your new cards like the credit limit is only $50, regardless of how much the limit is. Make small purchases (like $20 or so) that can be paid off on time every month. Wy you want to do this is that you want to still continue building credit with those cards by showing monthly activity, but at the same time not going into debt trying to do it. Like I mentioned earlier, 30% of your score depends on you keeping the balances no more than 25-30% of your combined avaiable credit. For example let%26#039;s say that the total available credit of the 2 credit cards you paid off and the new one you just got is $6000, you should have a balance of no more than $2000 between the 3 cards. The lower the balancce, the better so that you won%26#039;t have to pay additional interest.

My suggestion at this point would be to charge what either can be paid off or a small balance left over every month.

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

Good for you. Continue to pay off those credit cards. That is what does it. I am happy for you.

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

my suggestion for a happier financial future is to get rid of all your credit cards. If you need a cc, keep one and try not to use it unless it%26#039;s an emergency, then pay if off as soon as you get the bill.

The government wants to keep you a slave. The easiest way to do that is to KEEP YOU IN DEBT.

take note and be wise: I got rid of all my credit cards 10 years ago and am extremely happy that I did.

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

Go to this website below and read it all! You%26#039;ll be glad you did because this site is all about credit repair and how to get your credit score up! Don%26#039;t destroy ALL your credit cards, just use them wisely and don%26#039;t max them out and you should be fine!

The only people I know who are happy to get rid of all their credit cards are those who had no contol over their spending habits and bought everything they wanted whether they could afford it or not!

I got my score up to 729 from 485 in a little over a year with the help I got from this site, but also get a credit monitoring service like 3 in 1 gold from Equifax and keep an eye on your credit1 You can check your own credit as often as you want without damaging your score!

You need to have credit monitoring because trying to make your score go up with out real time credit monitoring is like driving while blind, it hurts when you crash into something!

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

Always keep your credit cards with a balance of less than half the limit this will help a lot. Also if you want to build credit charge small amounts and pay them off this will help in the long run. Also keep you inquires to a min. this will kill you score.

I recently pulled my credit report and noticed that my credit score?

Yes, the paid off accounts helped, but opening a new one didn%26#039;t really help (in just increases the open inquires).

Just put aside the paid ones (don%26#039;t close them) and use the new one as little as possible and pay balance off every month.

If you maintain the monthly payments on time and pay more than minimum, your score will rise in small increments but will still rise.

DON%26#039;T assume any more debt and pay down any other liabilities (i.e. auto, mortgage, boat, RV etc). Eventually your score will break the 640 mark and go higher after a few years.

Remember %26quot;TIME%26quot; will heal all broken credit scores.

HELOC vs. HELOAN on a credit report?

Can someone tell me if there is a difference in the way a HELOC %26amp; a HELOAN impact your credit score???

On the surface they look the same but a HELOC is a revolving line of credit, so do the 3 bureau%26#039;s factor that into your revolving credit balance vs. limit ratio???

Ex. $50k HELOAN vs $50k credit line with a balance of $50k...

HELOC vs. HELOAN on a credit report?

The HELOC maybe potentially become a negative impact on your credit report depending on the credit limit (since HELOAN does not have a limit since it%26#039;s not a revolving account). Lenders will usually look at the credit limit and how how high your balance is, and the highest balance it%26#039;s ever had. If you have a large balance vs the credit limit, then that%26#039;s a red flag.

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Australia?

I PLAN ON MOVING TO AUSTRALIA BUT I%26#039;VE ALWAYS WONDERED IF MY BAD CREDIT DUE TO PAST DISCREPANCIES WOULD HAVE ANY EFFECT ON BUILDING UP NEW CREDIT OVER THERE - PLS HELP ME WITH ANY INFO AVAILABLE

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Australia?

Funny, some friends were discussing this in Wellington, NZ. Both of them had debt and low credit scores when they left the US to live in Melbourne and the other in Wellington. They paid off everything and when they got there (both AUS and NZ) they were told their past credit history is not a factor, they start from scratch. That was 10 months ago, things change fast. Check with banks, lenders, and credit agencies. Don%26#039;t change your name, that will trigger more problems due to criminal activity and increased international security.

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Australia?

Don%26#039;t worry, just don%26#039;t let your bad credit follow you. Change your name.

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Australia?

More than likely your bad credit will not follow you however you will start with no credit rating and as an overseas national it will be difficult for you to start one

Looking at your credit report and going back and setting up a payment plan with the derogatory credi

not boost your credit score becouse that bad debt or derogatory debt has already been factored into your credit score! So tell me the truth

Looking at your credit report and going back and setting up a payment plan with the derogatory creditors does?

Just get a job, and pay money to your bills!

Looking at your credit report and going back and setting up a payment plan with the derogatory creditors does?

true

negative credit of ANY kind stays on the report the required time frame- paid back or written off

Looking at your credit report and going back and setting up a payment plan with the derogatory creditors does?

Okay, well it depends what KIND Of derogatory do you mean? A paid collection doesn%26#039;t do much difference than a unpaid one, especially if its old, but if it is paid, you can often negotiate or just dispute it and get it deleted.

An open credit card that is far over the limit becuase you stopped paying DOES need to be fixed. It figures into your score in several ways-- dragging down your utilization ratio (or upping yoru balance VS limits), adding more late pays, etc.

Once things are cleared up you can dispute the bad stuff and often get it fixed...but if you just ignore it nothing can be done. I got 3 old collections deleted and three of my accounts that had late pays changed it to %26#039;pays as agreed%26#039; for every single month-- upping my score by 160 points. If i had still been in a bad situation with them, you can bet your butt they wouldnt have wanted/tried to help me out.

Looking at your credit report and going back and setting up a payment plan with the derogatory creditors does?

Some bad debts you should pay for better scores.

Paying other bad debts will worsen scores--often by a lot of points. Want advice on which is which? You need either an E-book or a consultation. See below

Credit history question: I have some debts on my credit report which total less than 10k?

due to unpaid debts my credit score is very low now, if I pay off all my debts together, does my credit score imroves immidiately ? how much it imroves and how long it takes time ?

for some of debts its mentioning: %26quot;Estimated date that this item will be removed: 2012 %26quot; so even if I pay it off; will it be in effect till 2012; Elaborated and complete answer to these questions, would be greatly appreciated ? Also if you have any suggestion or offer about the best way for handling it

Credit history question: I have some debts on my credit report which total less than 10k?

If they are estimated to come off in 2012 this means that they are fairly new debts(around 2005). You didn%26#039;t say what was the negative information, but I would guess that they are charge-off%26#039;s because of non-payment(s). So you are still within the Statute of Limitations for most states. This will vary from 2-6 years from the date of the last delinquency. The SOL is the time limit creditors have to take legal action against you to make payments. Once you are outside of this date they can no longer file a suit against you to pay. So because of the age they probably still will be able to come after you if you do not pay.

If you have the ability to pay, you need to get with each creditor or collection agency and offer to pay in full, IF they remove the negative information. Be sure that you have this agrement in writting from them before you send any money. If you pay it and they remove it, your report will be reflected as if they never existed which will help you the most.

Now, if you wait and get past the SOL without them filing suit, the records will remain on your report until 2012 as it states. The time starts from the date of the last delinquency, and creditors are not allowed to re-age debts. It does not make the debt go away it just says they can no longer report it to the Credit Reporting Agencies after 2012.

Credit history question: I have some debts on my credit report which total less than 10k?

u have to paid if u want your debt to go low. But it%26#039;s going to take time. the best get a advice from the bank or credit officer the will help u and do not take this matter easy. Will effect your future.

Credit history question: I have some debts on my credit report which total less than 10k?

Paying now will affect your rating over time but it WILL NOT increase your score in a short time.

Credit ratings are calculated based on several variables including taking into account the passage of time (hence the term- credit %26#039;history%26#039;).

Quick example. Say you pay your bills (all of them at once). Then you check your rating in a few weeks. It will not make a huge difference. Say you check it 2 months from now. It looks good because for 2 months you have had clean credit. Now lets say you check it 6 months later. Now your credit will look even better- your rating will also be better- because for the past SEVERAL months you have had clean credit. Do you see?

To answer your second question. The debt is in effect only if you don%26#039;t pay it by 2012. Obviously, if you pay it before then, then it is no longer a debt.

If you have accounts that are charged off, try settling with the creditor. *NEVER OFFER TO PAY IN FULL* They will usually offer a 50% settlement (you can pay the balance at 50% provided you give them a lump sum). If you save a bit of money and do that, that is often the quickest way to rid yourself of old debt.

Credit history question: I have some debts on my credit report which total less than 10k?

1st of all, it says estimated, because if you don%26#039;t pay the debt off it will not come off. If you do not pay the debt off, at the end of 7 years (in your case 2012) the debt is reassigned by the original creditor and so starts another 7 years...it doesn%26#039;t actually come off until it is paid (and then it is 7 years after that, if you aren%26#039;t lucky enough to get it removed right away...which you can do if you follow the advice in my link).

2nd your credit score will improve quite a bit if you pay your debt off and it should happen within a month or two. Please remember when you are negotiating your settlement you can also negotiate your credit score...here is a great website that gives really good advice (that is 100% free) about repairing your credit.

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Canada - does it have the same adver

I PLAN ON MOVING TO CANADA BUT I%26#039;VE ALWAYS WONDERED IF MY BAD CREDIT DUE TO PAST DISCREPANCIES WOULD HAVE ANY EFFECT ON BUILDING UP NEW CREDIT OVER THERE - PLS HELP ME WITH ANY INFO AVAILABLE

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Canada - does it have the same adverse effect?

Credit reports will follow you. They use the same companies in Canada as in the U.S.

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Canada - does it have the same adverse effect?

Equifax Canada and Equifax USA still do not talk to each other and you cannot take your credit rating with you.

Newcomers don%26#039;t even register on the system, so you%26#039;d be a worse risk than a someone with a bad credit rating. Report It

Is your bad credit report in USA transferrable when you move to Canada - does it have the same adverse effect?

I%26#039;m not entirely sure that is does, but it may be circumstancial. I am Canadian, I lived in the U.S. for a while and screwed up on some credit card stuff. When I moved back here I was worried about it, but as far as I can tell, none of it is in my credit report. Good luck!

Adding positive marks to a credit report?

I have several loans reported to TransUnion but not Experian or Equifax. How can I get these reported to Experian or Equifax. I contacted the bank and was told TransUnion should report to the other two. Is this true? If not how can I personally get the info added. If needed, I%26#039;m willing to pay a small fee. Although, I%26#039;m guessing I can do it for free. Isn%26#039;t this considered unfair reporting practices?

Adding positive marks to a credit report?

Credit bureaus don%26#039;t typically report to other bureaus because of their competitive/business natures. I%26#039;d ask your lenders to report to the other credit bureaus as well.

Any company has the right to report or not report your account to your credit. And if they choose to, they can choose which Credit Bureau to report to. It is thier choice. It costs lenders money to credit report and smaller lenders may choose to credit report on one or none of the Credit Bureau%26#039;s. It is just the way it is.

Is there REALLY free credit report site on line? Thought they were free now but all sites ask you to

Every site I go to wants you to join something and pay by credit card. I don%26#039;t HAVE a credit card...lol... I thought a law was passed or something where you could get your credit score on request.

Is there REALLY free credit report site on line? Thought they were free now but all sites ask you to join??

The site mentioned already (annual credit report) is totally free, no-strings-attached. That%26#039;s the one that was set up when the law was changed.

I would suggest you order a report from just one agency now. Then, in four months, get the second agency%26#039;s report and the last one in four more months (ex. June - Experian, Oct. - TransUnion, Feb. - Equifax). This way, you can monitor your credit all year long for free.

Is there REALLY free credit report site on line? Thought they were free now but all sites ask you to join??

You can get your credit report online for free. I think they asked me for a credit card, too, but that%26#039;s so that if you don%26#039;t cancel the %26quot;subscription%26quot; to the site, they can continue to charge you. Give them your credit card info, but just make sure you cancel your subscription after you%26#039;ve read your credit report. You can go to www.experian.com. That%26#039;s where I got mine, and I didn%26#039;t pay anything for it.

Is there REALLY free credit report site on line? Thought they were free now but all sites ask you to join??

You can get one free credit report per year plus one for free each time you are denied credit. Go to this site to get your free annual credit report: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

Is there REALLY free credit report site on line? Thought they were free now but all sites ask you to join??

You can get all three credit reports for free at http://www.annualcreditreport.com . No credit card required.

How can this be illegal? Credit report alteration?

I%26#039;m currently in my mid 20%26#039;s. I%26#039;ve been paying utilities, phone bills, and other bills on time each month. Never been late. I%26#039;ve always had great payment habits since I was 13 (got my first cell phone) with any bills.

To my shock, a year ago I was turned down for a car loan. Sorry to say, I didn%26#039;t have thousands of dollars in cash to just plunk down on a car. I needed a loan which I can pay off, since everyone else has loans. I figured my great payment history would afford me a decent interest rate and approval on the spot.

I was denied because I had no credit! The finance guy basically told me I was stuck with the %26quot;loan shark 20% interest guys who say %26quot;No credit? Bad credit? 2nd chance financing and in house financing%26quot; run down dealerships that sell high mileage vehicles that might break down soon.

I was appauled. I got stuck with the same rates or credit category as some deadbeat who never pays bills, skips out on bills, evades creditors, or pays late all the time!

How can this be illegal? Credit report alteration?

utilities and phone companied only report delinquincies. some insurance companies or gyms will report positive payments but not most. your best bet is to get a credit card or two and use them and pay them off each month.

How can this be illegal? Credit report alteration?

Unfortunately, the fact that you have been paying all your utility bills and phone bills on time does not establish %26quot;credit%26quot; in the eyes of lending companies. What is known as %26quot;credit worthiness%26quot; is having several credit cards with a good payment history. The utility companies do not report to the credit bureaus, until you start not paying them. Your age is also a factor. If you don%26#039;t have good employment, you%26#039;re sunk.

How can this be illegal? Credit report alteration?

Doctoring someone%26#039;s credit report is fraud - any way you slice it. Your relative is falsifying information. How is that NOT illegal??

Paying your utitlities and cell phone on time is great, but you didn%26#039;t establish any %26quot;traditional%26quot; trade lines of credit (i.e. the ones that show up on a credit report). Unfortunately, those are the only ones that count.

I applaud you for paying your other bills on time, but on the other hand, it is unfair that you took the easy way out and skirted around the rules to get what you want (instead of establishing traditional credit just like the rest of us).

I hope you don%26#039;t get caught!

Some credit advisers say you should have some premium credit cards on you're credit report. Wha

Are they saying you should have American Express, Discover, Chase, Citi, Bank of America credit cards to build you%26#039;re credit score and profile? Whats considered the top tiered credit cards? Is WAMU considered a premium credit card?

Some credit advisers say you should have some premium credit cards on you%26#039;re credit report. Whats the best?

Many of the best rewards cards require good or excellent credit. Personally, I just go for the rewards card(s) that will pay me the most for my normal spending. Then I funnel all my normal spending through my cards and pay off the balance in full every month. That way I build credit, avoid interest, and earn maximal rewards.

To see which reward card or cards will pay you the most for your normal spending, you can use this rewards calculator:

Some credit advisers say you should have some premium credit cards on you%26#039;re credit report. Whats the best?

Major credit cards are American Express, Discover, Visa, and Mastercard. Many different banks offer Visa or Mastercard (the most widely accepted cards) with a wide range of terms.

I recommend you find one with a reward program that suits you. I prefer cashback. Charge normal purchases on the card and pay the balance at the end of the month.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

i%26#039;m going to rent an apartment and they%26#039;re going to do credit check...i haven%26#039;t seen mine in awhile and i%26#039;d like to get a look at it before hand.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

Some of these answers are not correct.. A FICO is determined by a number of things - for instance if you have your credit pulled by numerous %26quot;similar%26quot; agencies (like a bunch of automobile shops, or a bunch of mortgage companies) it will hit you far less b/c they consider you as a %26quot;shopper%26quot;. 1-2 pulls will have no effect on your credit within 90 days.

Any more pulls other than 2 within a 90 day window will affect your credit slightly, but it is barely noticeable. I work as a credit counsellor and am very familiar with this.

Also take note that correcting your address and work history as 1 address and 1 job within the past 12 years can typically boost your scores approximately 10-22 points.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

You are alloted a certain amount of credit pulls before it starts affecting the score. Usually its after 6 hits in an 12 month period. You can go to MyFICO.com and that may have an exact answer. Its ok to have your credit pulled, just do get carried away.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

Each time someone get your score few points are deducted, it%26#039;s not a big deal, so it won%26#039;t change anything just don%26#039;t do that every month.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

Pulling your own credit report does not affect your scores or count as an inquiry. Go to annualcreditreport.com- pull all 3 bureaus free once per year. It does cost if you want your score though.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

Not much affect if you pull your credit once a year. It maybe good idea for you to get a credit report.

If i get a credit report does it change my rating in any way?

You can get a free copy of your credit report each year. Usually they do not contain the score unless you pay for it.

A question about credit cards and credit report?

i have 4 credit cards and only one has a balance on it. are the other 3 that has no balance %26amp; are paid off hurting my credit? Im planning on using them again eventually.

A question about credit cards and credit report?

As long as you use them again on a regular basis, they aren%26#039;t... I%26#039;ve paid my balances off in-full (and on-time) every month and, trust me, unless you haven%26#039;t used the card at all that month, it still looks like there%26#039;s a balance. Here%26#039;s an excerpt from Jean Chatzky%26#039;s book %26quot;Pay It Down! From Debt to Wealth on $10 a Day%26quot;:

Don%26#039;t worry that paying of your balances every month is a bad thing -- it isn%26#039;t. By the time you receive your bill, write your check and mail it in, and it%26#039;s cashed, posted and reported to the credit bureaus, you%26#039;ve already gotten the bill for the next month... in other words, if you%26#039;re making frequent use of your card, you never show a zero balance to the bureaus.

Now, if you%26#039;re concerned because you%26#039;re trying to get a car or a mortgage (or another loan) and the lenders are nervous that you may run up a debt quickly, you can call your credit card companies and ask them to lower your credit limits if you so desire. It%26#039;s usually a good idea to have as low of a balance as possible before going to get these loans, though. I hope this helps!

A question about credit cards and credit report?

Perhaps yes, perhaps no. Not a definite answer, but that%26#039;s what I%26#039;ve discovered.

It shows up as the amount you could charge if you wanted to so that amount would be taken into consideration if you tried to get a loan. But, longevity with a credit card company can help your record as it establishes a habit of paying on time (as long as you do so).

A question about credit cards and credit report?

No. The cards that are paid off are not hurting your credit. The only way those cards are reported to the credit bureaus affecting your credit is when you have a outstanding balance on them.

A question about credit cards and credit report?

Yes and no.

On one hand, the amount of the credit limit you have for each card is considered %26quot;potential debt.%26quot; The way creditors see it, you COULD have debt up to this amount one day. This could lower your score.

On the other hand, having a zero balance is considered a good thing. Having a long history with your creditors is a positive as well.

I would keep them open, especially if you plan on using them again. It%26#039;s better to have credit cards with zero balances than have credit cards that you recently opened up. Opening up multiple sources of credit in a short amount of time can be bad for your score, so just keep what you have :)

A question about credit cards and credit report?

Yes and No.

*Each card has a credit limit...that is, you have credit available to you.

*How long have you had the cards...to show responsible use?

*If you apply for new credit, the creditor may look at the amount of credit already available to you.

*Perhaps you%26#039;ve already decided which one of four cards is best for you and you%26#039;re using it.

*Is that one card the one you%26#039;ve had the longest? ...with the highest limit? ...with the best rate? ...with points? ...with a low or acceptable annual fee? ...with proper reporting (not Cap One or Am Express?)

If so, you may consider closing the other three. However, if one of the other cards reflects the age of _your_ credit history, it%26#039;s important to keep active...but use it and keep a balance %26lt;30%.

Yes, the add%26#039;l 3 cards _could_ be hurting your scores; depending on when you%26#039;re planning to apply for new credit and the remaining strength of your credit history.

A question about credit cards and credit report?

Probably not.

That will mean you have a low debt ratio which is a good thing for your credit report.

no where on my credit report did it show as a negative that I had several open accounts. If anything this is a positive and not a negative for your report.

A question about credit cards and credit report?

I have 4 cards myself, and collectively on the 4, I keep a balance under $100 which I pay off every month before the due date. About 35% of your score is payment history, and if you%26#039;ve had those cards for a while, and you decide to close them all of a sudden, then you just shortened your credit history. Just do like you%26#039;ve been doing, keep those balances low, or none at all. It%26#039;s better to have them with NO balances, than to have them ALL maxed out.

A question about credit cards and credit report?

It is always best to try to use the cards once every few months .... if you use the card and pay it off its just like cash

Under 18 credit report?

Im 15 and im just curious what a credit looks like if i even have one? how would i go about checking on it?

Under 18 credit report?

You can%26#039;t have a report, as you are under the age of 18. Minors aren%26#039;t allow to have a credit card or engage in any kind of contract with anyone.

Such contracts are illegal, null, void and unenforceable.

Under 18 credit report?

no one under 18 has a credit history because they aren%26#039;t legally allowed to apply for a loan and cannot get a credit card unless on a parent or guardians signature and the parent or guardian is legally responsible. good luck, best wishes.

Under 18 credit report?

Oh my...here is a good example of people answering questions that do not have a clue of what they are talking about!

Yes, you can establish a credit rating when you are 15. My daughter has one! I%26#039;ve helped and advised many people to get one! DO YOUR RESEARCH!

To get your report (if they have one on record) just go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com and order it (for free).

Just because you have never had credit in your name doesn%26#039;t mean you don%26#039;t have a report. Ever hear of ID Theft? Someone may have used your ID to gain credit...it%26#039;s a smart idea to keep an eye on it just in case.

Under 18 credit report?

Yes, it%26#039;s possible to have credit with the following:

a) if your parent has put you on their credit card as a %26quot;co-signer%26quot; (which means your parents are taking responsibility for your credit card)

b) If you are emancipated from your parents.

c) If someone opens up account fraudulently in your name.

Generally they can go on your credit report, however if you are under 18 and have no accounts there probably isn%26#039;t anything on your file. Nothing was added to my credit report until I started using a credit card when I was 19.

About my credit report?

How can I find out who I owe money to and how to pay them back?

How soon after I pay off my debt til my credit score improves?

About my credit report?

How do you not know who you owe? At any rate, write to the Big Three credit agencies, Equifax, Experian and Transunion. (you can also get a report online) - Check over hte entries - look for the balances and the reporting date. Contact the owied company for an update on your account. Pay, or not - then call the company again after you have paid and ask them to report your information to the credit bureau. They will probably do it anyway. Check back in 2 months with the credit bureaus. Dispute any discrepancies with the Credit Bureau - they can then contact the companies and verify your account as paid, late etc...It is a slow process and will take at a minimum of 6 months.

Before you do that, go to these two websites:

These sites should help you understand what you need to do before you start paying off your debts.

About my credit report?

should improve right away unless you have late payments that falls off in about 5 years, Write a letter each time you make a payoff and that assures they get it. 60 % of the time your credit report wont show that you paid it off.

About my credit report?

Look at you credit reports.

There should be a phone number list with each debtor, (usually toll free) call them they will gladly tell you how to make payment.

About my credit report?

JUST go down to your local credit bureau anyone of the big three like equifax, trw etc. and get a free print out and a counselorto talk with. you can get one of those free scores but that is so lame. you need the printed details to study beore you decide what action you should take. ify our dont have an mba and understanding of what you are looking out, go to a professional in the yellow pages. there are free services to start with. don%26#039;t trust nobody until you hae worke with them awhile. it is a minefield. everything is a minefield these days.

About my credit report?

You should be able to get a free credit report every 12 months.

It will let you know what collection agencies you owe. But most likely, you need to find thier number yourself.

Even after you pay, it can stay on your report for up to 7 years.

Make sure you dispute things that you don%26#039;t think are yours. And they will come off after everything is verified.

Dispute the ones that are valid too. You never know when they might believe you and take those off as well.

About my credit report?

There is a couple of ways to start this process, one cost and one doesn%26#039;t. What you need is a current credit report. You can go to various credit report companies on the internet and request one which they will send to you for a fee (or free). I personally used EquiFax%26#039;s %26#039;Get a Free Credit Report%26#039; option (see website below). The trick on these websites is not to get %26#039;sucked into%26#039; their sells pitch about protecting or %26#039;fixing%26#039; your credit report. Just get the report, print it and review it at your leisure.

You can also get one for free if you%26#039;ve recently applied for credit was denied. In the denial letter there is instructions how you can go about requesting the credit report that was used to determine your credit worthiness. The credit reporting companies HAVE TO provide this report to you FREE of charge if you were denied credit based on a report they created. Follow their instructions and get your report.

Now... What to do from there. First establish all the debt that appears on your report. If there are any accounts you do not recognize you need to start tracing them down (ID theft possibility). The report will show you the balance as well as the number of times late (30, 60, 90 day). Organize this debt and start making payments. If you have been late on payments then depending upon the severity of the lateness will govern the lenght of time you must make consistant payments before the credit score improves. I would be willing to be you won%26#039;t see an improvement for at least 6 months at the minimum and if you had multiple 90day lates recently then it will probably take even longer.

Hope this helps and good luck!

About my credit report?

To be honest there is no time frame on that. Your credit report can change hour to hour, day to day, and so on. Just remember there are statue of limitations on items being reported on your credit report. Negative items will be on your credit report for 7 yrs, and positive items will stay on for 10 yrs.

About my credit report?

A credit agency is on my credit report, but I have never received a bill.?

This bill was from 2003 and I have never recieved a bill from the credit agency or the place of service. What should I do? I did not save my paid slip, and now the place of service is telling me I owe them money.

A credit agency is on my credit report, but I have never received a bill.?

If you have no proof of payment then you need to contact them and let them know that you never received a bill on this purchase. You need to clear up your credit report so that it does not show up later. Pay it , get your paid slip and take it to your credit agency to show them that you did pay. From now on keep better records.

A credit agency is on my credit report, but I have never received a bill.?

Hello, I am very new (as in just came across this site and loved it a/b an hr ago) But this is something that I have been looking into for my own credit. I would suggest that U first call the collection agency, go straight to them don%26#039;t bother going to the co. they will have to go to effort to help U and as it was a while ago, I doubt they will put much effort into it. However the col. agency can easily pull up the account, look into it %26amp; decide if they are willing to remove it from your C. R. If they will not , simply dispute it! U can easily do this Ur Self! Go to the sight that U recieved Ur Report and look for dispute items etc. click on it and follow the steps! Remember they have to prove 100% that it was yours or they have to remove it , its the law! I use Freecreditreport ( I pay 12.95 for constant alerts and credit reports) .Also if the # for agency isn%26#039;t listed do what I did call 411 with the address! Much cheaper than leaving it there!:) If they say that it is yours and that its their company that took on the action make them give U PROOF! If they can%26#039;t ! Dispute U paid it off anyways! I hope this helps , I am definetly not a professional !! :) Hope U have a better day tom.!

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn't it get erased from your credit report once you complete

I%26#039;m currently in credit counseling but I%26#039;ve read stuff from people that says it%26#039;s almost just as bad as bankruptcy? Is this true? I am aware of my credit score and doesn%26#039;t seem to be that bad. I am currently in the %26quot;Fair%26quot; credit category. Don%26#039;t people in bankruptcy usually have much worse credit scores?

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?

If it involves debt consolidation it%26#039;s just as bad. What they do is put all of your debts into default, ON PURPOSE. Then they make deals with each creditor and you%26#039;re listed as a deadbeat. That%26#039;s what happens. It%26#039;s sick.

You can do what counselors and consolidators do. What are some general numbers/totals you%26#039;re working with?

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?

It is a lot less bad than bankruptcy.

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?

Bankruptcy is the worst. And no it doesn%26#039;t get removed from your credit report.

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?

While in a debt management program, your credit score might be just as bad as bankruptcy. However, when you complete the program, the stigma goes away unlike bankruptcy.

Some debt management programs negotiate by not paying creditors for 3 or 4 months then threaten bankruptcy if they don%26#039;t agree to lower interest or settling for less than the balance. Those are the things that hurt your credit the worst.

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?

As far as I%26#039;m concerned, they%26#039;re equally bad. Re-establishing credit after a bankruptcy however, is actually easier than with credit counseling. Unfortunately, either way, new credit card offers will be with %26quot;strings attached.%26quot; That is, very high interest rates and large yearly fees.

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?

It does put a mark on your credit but nothing is worse than bankruptcy. The most important thing is making a committment to get your debts paid and if you need to do through credit counseling, go for it.

Is credit counseling THAT bad? Doesn%26#039;t it get erased from your credit report once you complete the program?
