Credit entry 7 years old, but is now showing on credit report?

I have a negative entry which is 7 years old (2000). The creditor decided after 7 years to report this account. If I were not to pay this account, would I now have to wait another 7 years for this to come off, or does the last date of activity actually determine the length?

If you still owe them money, then its still an active account and the last activity date is today. You can dispute it, or give them a call and offer to settle the account for less than the full amount. Just keep in mind, you will have an easier time getting an old PAID account off of your credit report than you will a currently due account. Once it is paid, the lender won%26#039;t care what happens with the account and is less likely to fight to keep it on your account.

If they didn%26#039;t give you any notice within the last month by either mail or phone call you can dispute it .

It is from the date of last activity or the date it was written off. We can help you dispute this and any other issues you have on your credit. Check out our website at www.jcwilliamscreditservice.com
